In1967 Ralph Lauren created the eponymous label, starting his career as a designer. He immediately stood out for the personality and innovation of his style. His wide ties have in fact represented a real revolution in the history of the male accessory par excellence. The following year he launched his first men's collection Polo Ralph Lauren.
In 1972 he devoted himself to women's prêt-à-porter, offering the first complete women's line that also included a sportswear section. Even in this collection the American designer proved capable of great innovations, combining haute couture clothes with a sporty style, introducing patterns and feminine cuts inspired however by men's tailoring.
The same year, the polo shirt with the logo image of the jockey hitting the ball is launched in 24 different colours, immediately becoming an American classic. The polo shirts, together with the chino pants, with the Oxford button down shirts, with the denim and chambray shirts and with the tweed jackets, embody the authentic American lifestyle and have gained an iconic status.
Following the influences related to the imaginary of the Western world, in 1978 Ralph Lauren launched his collections of Westernwear, for both men and women, creating a particularly appealing look was successful all over the world. In 1978 he created the Polo for Boys line, launching high quality children's clothing on the market.
This gave way to a long tradition in Childrenswear, which becomes a fundamental part of the Polo Ralph Lauren lifestyle experience. In the same year the designer's production also concentrates on perfumery, launching the first Polo for Men and Lauren fragrances.
Ralph Lauren Home made its debut in 1983. It was the first time that a fashion designer launched an entire home collection.
Today, Ralph Lauren produces clothing, accessories, footwear, fragrances, furniture and all marketed under his portfolio of different brands.

He has dressed great actors in their films: R. Redford in The Great Gatsby, D. Keaton in Annie Hall. Clothes from his collections have been chosen for the most important world events by actresses such as: Naomi Watts, Kerry Washington, Camilla Belle and Jessica Alba, Penelope Cruz, Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron
