BRANDS > FAUSTO PUGLISI
Fausto Puglisi is a designer from Messina who has recently emerged in the international fashion world thanks to his distinguishing style that blends the stark, minimal and meticulous with explosive forces, loaded with erotic pathos: a brand new mixture of purity, harmony and tailoring skills that cross and confine internal tensions that are always on the verge of exploding. This stylistic result is achieved by combining baroque decorations with patterns and optical geometries with unhinged and glaring colours, by violating classic shapes with unexpected cuts and combinations. Puglisi uses a classic tailoring technique in a very material and kaleidoscopic manner, whereby stimuli and exotic aesthetic standards are blended to create one-of-a-kind pieces, where he harnesses and amalgamates various, and often collusive, energies, distinguished by a strong empathetic charge.
Educated in the United States, Fausto Puglisi never lost his connection with his home, Sicily. Not only does he maintain his Sicilian spirit and ties, but also his way of interacting with people, his approach to work and his creativity. He first received recognition for his talent and hard work overseas with costumes designed for Jennifer Lopez and Whitney Houston, and later by selling one of his first collections to the Maxfield store of L.A. thanks to Sarah Stewart. But his rise to fame came about in Italy, thanks to a fashion house that shares his same homeland: Dolce & Gabbana. Domenico and Stefano approached him in 2010 for the Spiga 2 project, the concept store in Milan where the artistic style of Puglisi fits in so well.
From there, his success was a given: he began associating with and getting requests from the international star system, including Madonna's costume for Super Bowl 2012, as well as his nomination as Artistic Director of Ungaro, which he took to the runways in March 2013. In the same year, the first Fausto Puglisi brand collection hit the runways of Milan.
